The Coming Persecution… (Part 2)

This is a follow-up post about persecution. In the first part, I discussed a dream in which Christians were being persecuted for their faith and running for their lives.  This one is a little different, but certainly on the same track.  On July 29, 2024, I saw myself standing by my desk near our living room.  Suddenly, I heard loud banging on the front door along with male voices talking outside.  I quickly looked around and, seeing my Bible sitting on the desk, I threw a piece of black fabric to cover it.  As three big and tall men walked in, I was thinking about the many verses I had hidden in different parts of the house.  I was praying in my heart and hoping that they would not see them.  I was afraid of the punishment I would receive if they found any of them, including my Bible, which wasn’t really hidden.

The investigators looked everywhere, searching for the forbidden things.   Soon after, I was relieved when they left, since they hadn’t found anything.  But I was even more thankful to wake up and realize that this stressful and scary situation did not happen for real.  Nevertheless, it is sobering to think that one day this will be a reality that Christians will have to endure, even here in America, called the “Land of the free”.  All of God’s followers must be prepared for such a challenging season ahead.  God’s Word and Church or home meetings will be declared illegal, and anyone who disobeys will be punished by the law.  It began in some countries years ago, and one day it will be a global phenomenon.

The enemy knows, -better than many Christians-, that the Bible is powerful because it is the Living Word of God. He knows that it can bring people to the knowledge of their Creator and be transformed into His image.  So, he will seek to keep everyone from accessing that spiritual food that can nourish our souls and keep us anchored in God.  Our duty is then to study the Bible while we can and ask for God’s grace to memorize whatever we can, because it is not easy. Then, when the time comes for the authorities to ban the Word of God, we will still have it hidden in our hearts.  Like David, we can say:

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.  I will delight in your decrees and not forget your Word.  Psalm 119:15-16

The entire Psalm 119 is all about the laws and commandments of the Lord, so it would be beneficial to read it all to see how David thinks highly of them. But I will close this part with another passage from the same author in Psalm 19.

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul.  The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart.  The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Psalm 19:7-8

Freedom taken

Now, the following dream is not frightening in itself, but it still warrants equal and serious reflection.

I had it on August 31, 2025, about a year and a month later.   In this one, I was not aware of Christians specifically being the target of oppression, but I think it’s fitting to put them in the same post, since they’re short and share the same theme overall.

I found myself in the lobby of a building.  There were many rooms and hallways, and a crowd was standing around.  I couldn’t see the outside of the place, but it seemed wider than it is tall, something like a compound.  There were many white men of large stature, in a particular uniform, but I don’t remember the pattern or the colors.  They were the ones in charge and bossing everyone around.  They were possibly from the Military or some type of Law Enforcement.   The rest of the crowd were just regular people, and regardless of their race and previous social status, they appeared to be on the same boat.

I had the sense that we were all living together and were not permitted to go anywhere outside of that place.  Even to go to another room, we had to ask permission first.  I saw families, and I remember particularly, a slim, middle-aged Hispanic man with some gray hair on his temples.  In a comforting manner, he wrapped his arm around his son, who could be eight or nine years old.

I didn’t see anyone being hurt or killed; nevertheless, it was a repressive situation, since nobody had the freedom to make decisions for themselves.  We were all staying at that place and doing only what we’re told.  I think if anyone dared not comply, they would probably be punished to keep them from trying again. It wasn’t a prison per se, because there was no one behind bars, but still, we were all captives.  I don’t know why or how it happened, but it was the new lifestyle selected for us.

I woke up this time, not scared, but pensive, trying to understand the meaning of this dream.  Then came to my mind the passage in Revelation 13 when the Beast will reign and control all people around the world.  I am not saying that this dream describes that particular time; nevertheless, the loss of freedom is similar to a certain degree.  One thing is sure: God created us free, free to choose how we want to live and where we want to spend eternity: in heaven or hell.  So, when freedom is taken away, this is evidently the work of Satan, whether ruling as the Beast or a lesser authority as a precursor.  He continually desires to oppress, control, and destroy humankind, both in the physical and spiritual realms.  At a certain point in the future, God will let him, and in the following verses, the Bible describes his actions, including depriving people of their freedom and autonomy.

And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. Revelation 13:7

He required everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name.  Revelation 13:16-17

On the other hand, God not only gives free will; He also gave His son, Jesus, so that anyone who believes in Him, will be free from sin and death.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. Romans 8:1-2

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17

Remember, God is Love, but He is also Holy and Just. Therefore, He will judge all unrepentant sinners.  Turn away from sin and come to Him.
