Recently my husband and I were driving on the street and while we were waiting at a red light, I noticed a certain car next to us. I asked him about it, and he replied that it was just a base model car and wasn’t as good as the regular one. At that moment, it occurred to me that this same concept of models applies to Christians depending on their relationship with God. For more clarity in the comparison, I did a little research for this post.
According to the information I found on Google concerning base model cars:
“The base model comes with the standard and least number of features. It is the lowest car trim level. Generally, the base model vehicle will have the smallest engine, lowest horsepower, and basic interior.
In addition, these cars may have smaller infotainment touchscreens, no extra exterior features, fewer tech components, and cloth seats. Therefore, if you buy a car with a base trim level, note that you will get one with the least convenient features possible.”
I am not an automobile expert, but I think it’s safe to summarize the Base Model car as: “less appealing, less performing, and cheaper”. It carries the same name and make as the others but is different.
Likewise, many people may carry the same name (Christians) but are different. As some, are in a job just for the money, the Base Model Christians are in the church thing just for the free pass to Heaven. They don’t care about how God wants them to live, therefore they don’t try to find out through the reading of the Bible. They could still have an idea of God’s laws if only they attended church sometimes and paid attention to the sermon instead of checking up on their social media.
They live the same way they did before accepting Christ in their lives. There is no regular prayer time and/or worship, no fasting or tithing which are the basics for a flourishing Christian life. Intimacy with God is lacking or absent.
At the moment of salvation, they were given the same Holy Spirit as everyone else, but they won’t let Him do any home improvement in their hearts. They were given spiritual gifts but may not be aware of them. They were equipped the same way, with everything God made available for all Christ’s followers.
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3 NLT
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
Unlike the Base Car model which comes with basic and limited features, the Base Model Christians come with great potential, great abilities, resources, and unmatched guidance from the Holy Spirit but decide to remain in their most basic form. No one but they are responsible for their weak and powerless spiritual life.
If you are a Christian and you fall into this category, there is hope for you. It only takes a decision to repent of your former ways and ask God to help you as you seek to know Him more by reading the Bible and obeying His commands.
Now may the God of peace who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood; may he equip you with all you need for doing his will.
May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21 NLT

Remember, God is Love, but He is also Holy and Just. Therefore, He will judge all unrepentant sinners. Turn away from sin and come to Him.
